Aside from its exclusivity, the new JCW GP features a 2.0-liter turbo four rated at 306 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, channeled to the front wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. (Mini's existing six-speed manual, we're told, wouldn't be able to handle that much muscle, and the prospect of engineering a more robust gearbox was ruled out.) The most powerful Mini to date also features an upgraded suspension, brakes, rolling stock, exhaust, aero kit, and interior - including only two seats to save weight and make room for a cross brace to increase rigidity.
