FORT MYERS, Fla. — The largest mini-reef installation under one dock is coming to Fort Myers.

Ocean Habitats announced it will install 100 mini reefs in the water at 103 Montrose Drive on Wednesday morning.

Each of the shelf-life structures filters 30,000 gallons of water a day, so 100 reefs will filter more than 1.1 billion gallons of water in a year.

The reef installation will also attract more than 50,000 fish, shrimp and crabs for decades into the future, according to a news release from Ocean Habitats.

“Large installations like this are becoming more frequent and show the residents of Florida are taking action to protect the paradise they live in," said David Wolff, Ocean Habitats' founder.
